Mara and Josh leave a Friday-night event carrying an unresolved argument about Josh’s imminent move to Johannesburg. At a convenience store they witness a robbery and are taken hostage by Ray, Lee and Ashwin, Ray’s recently unemployed childhood friend, who has joined them for one reckless night.
What begins as an attempt to recover incriminating footage becomes kidnapping with high stakes. When Josh escapes, he returns for Mara but is killed, Mara understands that cooperation will not save her. She begins reading the men and the spaces around them, turning guilt, loyalty and fear against one another. Near dawn, Ashwin finally chooses to act. Mara’s survival ultimately depends not on overpowering her captors, but on deciding who she will be when escape is finally possible.
